Mtawara Creation Legend

   This Zimbabwean tribe have a great spirit named Mwari who had two wives, the first named Mashongavudzi of Gosa, and the second who is ‘the Rain Goddess’. Up to the present time the first wife of the reigning chief is named Mashongavudzi and is ex-officio a paramount chief of the tribe and sacrifices are still made to the rain goddess when there is a drought.
